Surveying career began in 1979 as an Apprentice Mine Surveyor with the National Coal Board, progressing through to Senior Surveyor with British Coal Opencast before setting up Landform Surveys in 1994.
Qualifications include a BSc Surveying for Resource Development, achieved Chartered Status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1990.
