Landform Surveys to appear on Vera

When you think of crime dramas, surveying might not be the first thing that comes to mind but that could change after an upcoming episode in one of ITV’s crime drama programmes.

Landform Surveys recently had the opportunity to work with the production team at Vera, one of the well-recognised tv series filmed throughout the region.

Vera is a British crime drama series based on novels of the same name, written by crime writer Ann Cleeves. The series stars Brenda Blethyn as the principal character, DCI Vera Stanhope who is based in the North East as part of the fictional Northumberland & City Police.

The series was first broadcast on ITV on 1 May 2011, and to date, six series have been broadcast. The seventh series is set to air in 2017 which we are excited to have a very small part in.

We were approached by the production team to offer technical advice on surveying, as one of the storylines in the new series involves a team of surveyors on the moors. We gladly provided advice, and supplied equipment to be used on the shoot. We look forward to watching the episode in the new year, when we’ll see how well a couple of hours survey training looks on the screen!
